Piggytails!

Mayra put Sam's hair into pigtails on Friday. SO CUTE! I didn't do as good of a job on Saturday, but it's serviceable, anyway.

Waterbaby

She does seem to enjoy herself a bit more in the pool. In the last photo you can see that she is kicking, a skill she picked up pretty well last weekend. When Daddy came in toward the end of class, she smiled and waved!

Happy Together

Here is another picture of Sam and her buddy, taken over the weekend. It's all I have--time to break out the camera again so I have more to post this week!

Tupperware Lady

We let her play with the Tupperware on the kitchen island shelf. Unfortunately, she has figured out how to open the cabinet doors (as well as the drawers on our chest in the bedroom). I'm heading to Babies R Us today in an attempt to find cabinet locks that don't require screws!

Bootstraps

Sam's favorite activity now is pulling herself up and grabbing whatever she can find on the table. Most often it's a TV remote, and she manages to either change the channel or mess with the audio depending on which remote she has.

That was hard work...

That Looks Better Than Baby Food

This is Sam eyeballing our dinner. Mommy has instituted "Sunday Night Dinner" as a new tradition. It lets me try new recipes, and gives Marc and I chance to eat dinner together since we rarely have the same schedule during the week (plus, I have no time to cook during the week).

So far I've made Super Spaghetti Casserole (thanks Mom and Dad), Chicken Pot Pie, and, shown in the picture, Jamaican Jerk Chicken. The Jamaican Jerk Chicken is a slow-cooker recipe from a cookbook I recently bought along with a new crock pot that has timer settings. I did give Sam a couple of bites of shredded chicken and she seemed to enjoy it.

I haven't decided what this Sunday's dinner will be yet, but I may go back to the slow cooker.

Sam vs. Jokie II

Sam was holding a Huggies coupon the other night and Jokie was enthralled. He followed her around singing to the piece of paper. This is becoming an almost nightly routine; Sam following the bird around and vice versa! He's really good with her, and she with him. My only concern is that she is going to fall on him and crush him, so we have to watch the two of them very carefully....

You'll also notice that Sam is sporting her big-girl bangs. :-)

Wanna play?

I have a coupon, and you can't have it....

Sing all you want, you still can't have it...

Pppbbbbbbbbttttt to you, Jokie...

Splish Splash Sam Was Taking a Bath

...and Mommy was doing embarrassing things to her hair for photographs! And by the way, I did cut her hair after this bath. I couldn't take it anymore--barrettes would not stay in and the poor child could barely see through hair hanging down past her nose. I kind of regret it, because she looks a lot older now! But it will grow back and hopefully in a way that allows us to keep it up in a ponytail or something. Pictures of her new haircut will be posted tomorrow.

The Failed Attempt

Photobucket

Photobucket

Here is Sam trying to pull herself up on the couch. I picked her up before she made it, mostly because I'm afraid she is going to fall backwards and hit her head on the glass coffee table. I'm putting the table set up for sale this weekend, and we'll have to buy new end tables to match the wood coffee table that is in storage.

I had a Mommies night out last night with a moms group. We had a lovely time. Marc said that Sam dismantled the tupperware shelf and ended up crawling with a small piece of tupperware in one of her hands. On the wood floor, it must have sounded like "slap smack slap smack slap smack" as her one hand slapped the floor and the other dragged the tupperware around!

We are going shopping after work to buy a couple of toys for Sam! I've barely bought her anything since friends and relatives have been so generous, but I'm in the mood to give her something new to play with!

Have a great weekend!

Crying It Out

No pictures today, I snapped a couple last night but forgot to upload them. Speaking of which, when I have time some day soon, I am going to upload the "best of the best" to Shutterfly so anyone who wants them can save them.

Sam still is doing her waking up thing. Last night (12:30am? 1am? I have no idea), I picked her up and rocked her back to sleep in about three minutes. When I laid her down in her crib, she started wailing again. So I left her there, figuring if she was still screaming in 15 minutes I would go back in and get her.

Luckily, she fell asleep in five minutes or perhaps a little less. It was hard listening to her cry and scream, but not traumatic. I hope if we continue to do this that she'll learn it's OK to wake up for a bit without screaming her head off!

Sammy Up Up... REALLY Up!

She learned how to pull herself up to standing on Friday. This coupled with more teeth coming in has caused some aggravating nights lately. Hopefully it will pass soon!

Edited to add: Fixed the sizes, so I added two more pictures...

Our little goofball.

Everything's a Toy

Ooooooo a dustpan....how exciting! She has a room full of toys and she only wants to play with what she shouldn't.

The Big Chase

I used to be able to set Sam in the living room and fix my dinner. I still do that, but two minutes later, she's in the kitchen trying to pull plates off the island shelf or playing with the cans and bottles we're recycling. A big reorganization is on the horizon for this weekend!

Here's a list of Sam's recent accomplishments. She can crawl, she says "dada" and more recently "mama" (although I don't think she's using them in context yet), she can wave "hi" and "bye bye," and she will dance if I tell her to "shake it." That last one is the funniest and hopefully I'll capture it on film. Marc took a video of her crawling last weekend but I haven't been able to get it to upload yet. I'll work on it again this weekend.

No pictures to post today. I snapped a few this morning but didn't have time to download them. Tomorrow, I promise!

This Diaper's Really Wet

Sam's first swimming lesson! She seemed to like it. She treated it like she treats her baths--not loving it, but not hating it either.
