Sam's First Trip to the Library

Since Daddy was out of town last weekend, I took Sam on my weekly library trip. It was her first visit.

I knew the library had renovated the basement and put in a children's room, but hadn't been down there. It was much nicer and bigger than I'd expected! Very colorful, lots of tables and chairs, and books that range from infant-level to junior high.

Sam was a very good girl--the whole week before, I told her we were going to the library and that it was a quiet place. Now all I have to do is say the word "library" and she says "Mama, that's a quiet place."

This pic isn't from the kid room, last minute I snapped one upstairs on our way out.

Zonk

Sam has had a cold for the past few days, and she didn't get a nap yesterday. Before dinner, we went out and ran errands in the neighborhood--bank, wine shop, grocery store, dry cleaner--and all the walking must have pooped her out! We were eating dinner behind her and didn't think anything of it when she was quiet since she was watching TV. Poor kid couldn't even make it through dinner! I ended up tossing her in her bed without changing her into jammies.

More California

It's too early for witty captions today. :-)

Vroom vroom! Here's Sam in her swanky Corvette. She's a little too short for the pedals but she looks awesome in it.
Nothing says "cool Corvette chick" like a pair of bunny ears.
She borrowed the neighbor's car...she could reach the pedals in this one!

Daddy's LIttle Helper

Here is Sam last weekend helping Daddy put together the toddler bed that her aunt and uncle graciously gave us (we eventually went with the Dora bed, long story). I helped Daddy too, and and one point, Sam said "Mama, you're a good girl for helping Daddy!"

Happy New Year!

I know I am soooooo behind (that's a recurring theme) on the blog lately. I post a lot of the same pictures to Facebook so I've gotten a bit lazy lately. I realize not everyone is on Facebook so as a New Year's resolution, I will try to post at least twice a week. :-)

Here are a few pictures from Sam's first trip to see the Mouse. We were generously given two free passes from our next door neighbor who is a producer for ABC (which owns Disney), and Sam was free as she's not yet three. Tickets are expensive, and it was VERY crowded, so Sam only rode three rides--It's a Small World, the Dumbo Flying Elephant ride, and the carousel. She seemed to have a great time anyway!

I'm too short for this ride!

Sam and Goofy...oh, and there is a Disney character in this picture too (hee hee).

Look Mama! A waterfall!

Snow Time!

After our "monster" storm, we took Sam sledding and to the playground yesterday. It was surprisingly nice out--it almost felt warm, so we were out for maybe 90 minutes.

Snow angels!

Mama and daughter:
Wheeeee! She loves to sled! We do, too--we're going to have to find a big people sled so we can partake in the fun too.

The Lost Pictures--Autumn

These were taken several weeks ago before the leaves totally came off the trees. We took Sam out for a day in Central Park just for the heck of it--of course, she enjoyed the ice cream the best. :-)

Walkin in a Winter Wonderland

Yesterday we took Sam to Bayville, NY (on Long Island's North Shore) for Winter Wonderland...an amusement park that turns all Christmas-y in the winter. Sam seemed to like it, Mommy and Daddy kind of felt they got ripped off. :-P

This reindeer scared the crap out of me when we first paid to get in and I screeched a little--he came out of nowhere. Since I was scared, Sam was scared, but then the reindeer gave me a big hug so Sam went and gave him a hug too!
The mouse.
I'm pretty sure this is a lion, but Sam thought he was a bear. The creepy thing about these guys is that since the amusement park was completely dead, it felt like they followed us around. They were EVERYWHERE. They don't talk, so there's only so many times we could say "Hi Reindeer! Hi Lion! Sam, look at the lion!" before it got really old. Ha.
Sam on the beach of LI Sound.
It was freezing out. I was using my daughter as a wind shield which is why you see 33% of my face.

Little Cookie Monster!

Samantha did a VERY good job helping Mama and Karen bake cookies today! Karen came over with pre-made dough (THANKS!!) and we spent a few hours rolling and constructing some holiday goodness!

This is hard to believe--and I'm still stunned--Karen gave Sam the job of unwrapping Hershey's Kisses so we could use them for "surprise middle" cookies. She sat there for 30 minutes and one by one unwrapped them, putting the wrappers in an upside-down lid and the candies in a small pot. She didn't even eat any! She was SUCH a good little helper!!!

Concentrating on her job:

Grabbing some green dough while Karen smiles for the camera:

"Using" a cookie cutter. She wasn't quite ready for this part yet but it was amusing to watch her try.

A Day for Sam

We took Sam to the Brooklyn Children's Museum Sunday morning for some pure Sammy fun. She loved it! It's a wonderful museum, with lots of interactive exhibits and play.

This really is a snake...her name is Fantasia and she's huge. I'm pretty sure she eats small horses for snacks. Too bad she was sleeping.

Sam colors...something African, I think, I forget what this was called.

It's elementary, my dear Watson! (Yes, I know I used that line on Facebook already, but it was funny.)

No driving the bus jokes, please. LOL...when Sam sat in the seat and turned the wheel, she said "Mama, it's not working!" I think we're in trouble because she also announced this weekend that she wants to be a race car.

My Kid is Super Cute

Those of you on Facebook have already seen this pic, but I just love it, so here it is again. Mayra does such a great job with her pony hair...I can't make it look this good!
